Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Our mission at TRIP is to create moments of calm in the chaos, from AM to PM, because we believe mental health is intrinsic to good health. 

This Mental Health Awareness week we’re encouraging our community to reconnect and open up conversations around mental wellbeing, to make sure no one feels alone in their struggles.

The past two years have been full of unknowns, we’ve all felt a little distracted and overwhelmed at times. But there’s no better time to reflect and reset than now, so we’re using this week to highlight ways some of our friends find calm. 

Read on to hear from some of our favourite brands about how they maintain their mental wellbeing, this week and beyond...

Gemma, Ren Clean Skincare 

1. Please tell us a little bit about you, your company and your role

Hi there! I’m Gemma from REN Clean Skincare – a zero waste, sensitive skincare brand based in London.

I’m the Head of Social & Influencers here, managing everything from creating TikTok content to partnering with amazing likeminded influencers.

2. If you’re having a stressful day what do you do to reset and rebalance?

When I’m stressed, I always make sure I get outside for at least 15 minutes for a power walk (slow walks don’t do it for me!)

Another way I like to rebalance is by doing a quick clean up. Often at REN we do canal and beach clean ups, helping to remove plastic waste from the waterways.

Doing my own clean up and picking up litter in nature during my own time makes me feel good. Nature puts everything into perspective.

3. How do you unwind after a busy day?

I like to spend time with my 10-year-old dachshund, Beau.

4. What 3 things do you find help to boost your wellbeing on days when you feel down?

Olivia Ferdi, TRIP Co-Founder

1. Please tell us a little bit about you, your company and your role

Before founding TRIP, I was working as a lawyer in the City, working long hours and was seriously burnt out. The everyday grind could be relentless, but I never took the time to consider the changes I could make to feel better. When I discovered CBD I finally found incredible relief for that everyday stress and it helped me to find calm. I was determined to create a CBD range that could alleviate stress for so many, choosing to make plant-powered well being accessible to all.

2. If you’re having a stressful day what do you do to reset and rebalance?

After the last two years I think we’re all feeling new types of stress on our minds. While finding calm looks different for everyone, I try to focus on two things daily. Getting outside! Whatever the weather, even if only for 15 minutes - finding some space to breathe has been instrumental for my headspace and productivity. Playlist on! and notifications off - I always return to the desk energised and my mind clearer.

3. How do you unwind after a busy day?

With the blurred lines between home and work + multiple screen action - I need to unwind ahead of sleeping to clear my mind. My wind-down ritual includes some self-care, taking my time and not rushing through things. Bedtime is an internet free zone for phones - zero emails or WhatsApp notifications. I find that the slower pace and keeping work separated from my wind down routine really helps set me up for a better night’s sleep, together with a few drops of our CBD oil to totally calm my mind for some solid zzz’s.

4. What 3 things do you find help to boost your wellbeing on days when you feel down?

BEING PHYSICALLY ACTIVE. Each morning I take a moment to re-balance, re-centre with a few drops of our calming CBD oil before heading to the gym for a class. Even a short burst of brisk walking does wonders for my mental alertness, energy and mood.

CONNECTING WITH PEOPLE. I try to stay as in the ‘moment’ as I can. Life runs at a hundred miles an hour, especially running a start-up, so connecting with people and having conversations that aren’t just about work is really important. I’m lucky in that I work with my family so we often have moments of laughter as well as business talk.

SWAPPING ALCOHOL FOR CBD. Instead of reaching for a glass of wine in the evening, I often reach for one of our CBD-infused drinks instead. They give that same sense of relaxation a first sip alcohol does, but it’s hangover and hanxiety-free!
