What is CBD and what does it do?
CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants - in fact it’s one of 113 compounds in the plant but unlike its well-known counterpart THC, CBD won’t get you high.
The body has an Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a network of cells and receptors that helps the body achieve optimal balance, regulating a number of functions:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Sleep
- Pain and inflammation
- Supporting the immune system
What is a CBD drink?
CBD drinks are beverages infused with CBD - it’s as simple as that! They’re a convenient and delicious way to take your daily dose whether that’s grabbing a can after the gym or replacing your evening glass of wine. From AM to PM, CBD drinks can be enjoyed solo, chilled or mixed into cocktails (we’re not saying you can never drink again) - but if you are looking for a delicious alcohol alternative to relax into your best self, CBD drinks might be a great option for you. Stress-free sipping without the hangover? We’ll drink to that!
How long does a CBD drink take to work?
Much like alcohol or caffeine, this varies for everyone. Generally CBD gets to work in as little as 15 minutes, however it affects people differently and depends on things such as:
- Metabolism
- Diet
- Weight
- Genetics
Dosing and effects are completely personal though, so the dose of CBD in the product, and amount of product consumed will affect the benefits felt - and the time it takes for you to feel the effects. For those new to CBD, it’s advisable to start with a low dosage (15MG) and gradually increase over time.
Why are people swapping alcohol for CBD?
A bad hangover can make you never want to drink again, with or without the anxiety afterwards - we’ve all been there! After a night of drinking alcohol, you might be familiar with the usual physical symptoms of a hangover - a pounding headache, nausea and the urge to stay in bed with the curtains closed for almost all of the day. On some occasions, we have to ask ourselves - was it worth it?
And then there’s our mental wellbeing. Did you know that alcohol has been described as ‘the UK’s favourite coping mechanism’ to help manage stress and anxiety? Although alcohol can help us relax initially and give us a brief euphoria, the effects are short-lived and over a period of time, drinking in excess can seriously impact our mental health.
If there’s one thing the pandemic has taught us, it’s that mental health is intrinsic to good health. Millions of people around the world are investing in their personal wellness, searching for feel-good products to relieve the stresses of daily life. And that’s exactly why so many are turning to CBD drinks.
Sipping a CBD drink can give you the same sense of ‘relief’ you get from drinking alcohol, without the negative side effects. Say goodbye to hangxiety and hello to happy days! ✌️
