Sipping a CBD drink can give you the same sense of ‘unwinding’ you get from drinking alcohol, without the negative side effects. Say goodbye to hangxiety and hello to happy days!

The Science: What is CBD?

CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp plants. It’s becoming a top trend in the health, beauty and wellness industries around the world due to it's healing properties which can help control how the body relieves stress and achieves balance. CBD won't get you 'high', unlike it’s well known counterpart, THC, and is perfectly legal in the UK.

FAQs

Our Most Popular Questions

1. Can infused CBD drinks make you high?

CBD is a non-psychoactive element of the cannabis plant. This means that if you are considering trying a CBD drink, you shouldn’t be concerned that it may make you ‘high’. This feeling is caused by THC - a separate psychoactive element of the cannabis plant - and is not used to create CBD drinks.

2. Does CBD have any side effects?

Hemp and CBD are recognised as being safe and should not produce side effects in most people, however, if you have an underlying medical condition and are worried about adding CBD to your daily routine, check in with your doctor. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are advised not to use CBD oil and other CBD products for that period of time.

3. Are CBD drinks legal in the UK?

Yes TRIP CBD drinks are legal in the UK - that's why you can find them in most major retailers across the country!

4. Where to buy CBD drinks

You will be able to find CBD drinks in your local health store, supermarket or even bar or restaurant. You can also buy delicious CBD drinks on the TRIP website, with a range of sparkling drinks including Elderflower Mint, Lemon Basil and Peach Ginger, as well as CBD-infused Cold Brew Coffee.

5. What’s the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Although from the same plant species (Cannabis), hemp and marijuana are two very different plants when it comes to genetics, cultivation and chemical processes. Hemp is made for many items such as rope, fabrics and CBD extracts whereas marijuana is made to yield high levels of THC. Conversely, hemp has very low levels of THC (defined as 0.3% and under) and has no psychoactive properties.

6. Does a CBD drink go off?

As with any drink, CBD drinks do expire and it would always be recommended that you finish off your CBD drinks before the ‘best before’ date detailed on the label. Most products containing elements of CBD typically last between 12 and 24 months before expiring, but an expiry date should be clearly shown on the product.
